What size is my dog?
The size of a dog is determined by the height from the top of their shoulder blade to the ground. Please note that dogs with significantly longer or wider body proportions may be moved into a larger category.
Small 0cm to 30cm
Medium 30cm to 45cm
Large 45cm to 60cm
X Large 60cm to 75cm
Dogs exceeding 75 cm or that are 45kg+ will be accessed on a case by case basis as to if Mr Clippy is able to accept them as clients. As a mobile service, there are limitations on the infrastructure and a groomers ability to handle and lift dogs this big.
Bathing
Mr Clippy uses a standard hydrobath for bathing dogs. Each dog receives a thorough shampoo scrub followed by a blasting rinse that massages the skin pushing grime and dirt up from the undercoat. Flea and hypoallergenic products are available upon request.
Blow Dry
Mr Clippy uses a professional grooming dryer which blasts water out, leaving the coat fluffy and tangle free. Ear muffs are used on dogs whilst being dried to ensure they do not suffer hearing damage.
Cologne
Colognes leave your dog smelling fresh and finished after a groom. Mr Clippy uses dog friendly brands to diminish the chances of allergic reactions. Cologne application can be skipped if preferred.
Ear Clean
Ear cleaning focuses on removing grime and wax build up from the outer ear skin and about 1-2cm within the inner ear. A disposable wipe allows these areas to be gently massaged until clean.
Nail Clipping
Mr Clippy only cuts nails to the natural length of the quick. We do not practice clipping past the quick and suggest veterinary assistance for advanced nail conditions where this is required. Where the quick is accidentally cut, a styptic agent is used to stop bleeding.
Paws
Paw pads are cleared from excess hair which can impact grip and stride. The top of the paw can be styled to your preference including, shaved, short, or a rounded cut.
Face
Mr Clippy can cut and style your dogs face to your preference or to a breed specific style. Special care is taken to find a balance between the desired outcome and the behavioural allowance/threshold of each dog.
Hygiene
Keeping your dogs hygiene areas clear from hair ensures they are not soiling their coat when they relieve themselves. It is standard procedure to shave the underbelly and around the anal area. Mr Clippy does not provide anal gland expressing.
Body
Mr Clippy is able to provide standard body cuts or breed specific styles, as well as preference combinations at your request. In circumstances where coats are knotted or matted, a shorter cut will be recommended and may be the only option.
De Shedding
Mr Clippy uses a hydro de shedding method that blasts the already loose undercoat and hairs out from the coat. This is followed by a blow dry blast that dislodges any remaining hair. A light pull test at the end is used to clarify that an adequate de shed has been completed.
